People involved in learning about the world, from the photographers to the divers to the people putting data into spreadsheets and people designing equipment, tools, and safety gear, are in STEM careers. What STEM careers appeal to you?

When browsing STEM careers, be sure to record the following information, once you've decided on a career to spotlight for this unit of study:
SPOTLIGHT Requirements (to be recorded on your Leaf)
- Name of the Career
- Average Salary (i.e. $50K)
- Educational level required to start working in that job/field (A.S., B.S., Ph.D. or other doctoral degree)
- What makes you interested in this career (One short sentence)
Educational Level notes:
Associate of Science or Arts Degree (A.S. or A.A.) - a one or two year community college degree, includes many types of jobs, from computers to nursing
Bachelor of Science or Arts Degree (B.S. or B.A.) - a four year college degree, may do two years at community college and then transfer to a four-year college or university
Master of Science or Arts Degree (M.S. or M.A.) - a one to three year degree earned after finishing the Bachelor's Degree, often earned after working in the field for a time. A Master's degree can qualify a person to earn more, take promotions in their field, and also qualifies them to teach at community colleges
Doctoral Degrees
Doctor of Philosophy Degree (Ph.D.) - length of time varies, but can be 3-6 year, often leads to work in a university or in business
Health Care Doctorates:
Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) - four years, plus on the job training years, leading to work caring for people at doctor's offices and
at hospitals
Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S)
Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.)
Doctor of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.)
Other Professional Doctorates:
Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.)
Juris Doctorate (J.D.) - with Bar Exam test, qualifies attorneys
